The war between Israel and Gaza has dominated the news for the past five months. At LCD Media we’re covering it from the point of view of people in the region, principally from Egypt, from Dubai, and a Gazan journalist living in India. There is a big difference between the way the British, US and other Western media report it and the Middle Eastern press, such as Al Jazeera for example.

Looking at the different language that is used by the media in the East and the West is an article by Mohammed Abunahel entitled “Reframing the narrative: examining the description of the Palestinian national struggle with Israel”. It states: “In conclusion, the terminology used to describe the Israeli occupation of Palestine holds significant implications for how the situation of Palestine is perceived and understood.”

Then there’s the pressure that American Muslims are exerting on Biden to stop the war in Gaza. “As the Israeli massacres continue even in the holy month of Ramadan, pressure continues on US President Joe Biden to make more efforts to stop the war in Gaza. As the 2024 US election season begins, American Muslims and Arab Americans are threatening not to vote again for the Democratic president.”
